Nyamigoye Coffee Farmers Group is the proposed name for a group of around 300-500 farmers currently organizing in three villages in Uganda: Kasoni, Bugiri, and Kitunga, all in the Kanungu district in south-western Uganda near the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The farmers are smallholders with an average farm size of 0.25 hectares to 1 hectare of land. They are committed to embracing sustainable coffee production practices. Currently, they are replanting trees that have been wiped out by coffee wilt disease, and are preparing more land for Arabica production.
Our Role
The Chain Collaborative is providing technical support to the group administrator throughout the duration of the project. We have been contracted to guide the programmatic activities of the initiatives to train farmers, advise the group managers toward strengthening democratic participation, offer overall support for the implementation of the project, and attempt to link the group to coffee buyers.
